(Liz gets out her pokedex and collects Snivy’s data.)

Vyera “Hey you two its hard to concentrate when you guys do that. What’s up?”
Azelia “Well…”

Liz “Huh?! The pokedex?”
Vyera “You guys don’t not what a pokedex is?”
(Vyera pulls out her pokedex.)
Azelia “Ah, you have one too.”
Vyera “Of course I’d have one.”
Tina and Azelia “We don’t.”
Liz “You don’t?”
Vyera “Ok, enough! We’ll talk about this later! The match, call out your pokemon
Liz.”
Liz “Right! Let’s go, Piplup!!”
(Piplup came out of the pokeball.)

Liz “But first, meet our opponent Vyera and Snivy and my also my other new friend

Tina thinks ‘That’s what I thought at first too, but that Piplup is not ordinary…’
Vyera “You really were keeping your starter reserved. Good move, too bad though
my starter is your starter’s weakness. Good luck beating me.”
Liz “Reserved? I just wanted to let Ralts fight to gain experience. Nothing else.”
Vyera thinks ‘*sweat drop* She really ain’t that bright afterall.’
Azelia “Battle
Vyera “Here we go! Snivy use-”
(Vyera and Liz’s battle was pretty long….. but finally it emerged with the results :)
Tina “Oh my god!”
Azelia “I can’t believe it…..”

(They said as their Snivy and Piplup both lay unconscious on the ground.)
Vyera thinks ‘I drawed with a beginner pokemon? This girl, the way she called out
the attacks, her strategies are almost as good as mine. Is she a genius, or
is she just random?’
Liz “Hey Vyera, how the heck did I beat you?”
Vyera “You didn’t! It’s a draw!!”
Liz “Sorry, I meant, how did you and me tie?”
Vyera “Talk later; let’s get our pokemon to the pokemon centre.”
Liz “Right. Let’s go Piplup.”
(Picks up Piplup and heads towards the pokemon centre and Vyera does the same for Snivy.)

Hey journal,
It’s been awhile since I wrote in you. About a week ago, I was in a port waiting to go to the Sinnoh region and I met an orange haired girl named Azelia.
She was unique, well she called me the same thing so, whatever. We travelled to Sinnoh together, she loves to eat and throws up too. So, we arrived in Sinnoh today and she wanted to eat, again…..there it started, we met two new girls, a blonde beauty named Tina and a black haired idiot named Liz. By the way, Liz likes to eat a lot, too. These girls are interesting and seem to like me. I wonder if I can call them friends? If so, I hope they won’t break up our friendship if they ever find out who I am….. I finally made some friends, human friends, I mean. My pokemon seem to be happy they made some new friends too. Today was thrilling, the battles I had today were fun… I think. I just can’t believe I got a draw with Liz. She is a beginner! I have to keep an eye on her…. AHH!! I am so sleepy. I will write in you soon…. See ya.

Azelia “*yawn* so sleepy….”

Azelia “Torchic, just a little while more, this book is awesome.”

translate what other pokemon say so I technically can speak to all pokemon.

Piplup “Hi professor, you’re looking nice today.”
Prof. Rowan “Hello there Piplup, how are you?”
Liz “Hehe, no, professor, Piplup said you look really nice today.”
Prof. Rowan “*startled*Well I’ll be….. you got it? This fast?”
Liz “Excuse me?”
Prof. Rowan “You can understand Piplup’s language.”
Liz “You believe me?”
Prof. Rowan “Of course, let me tell you why: Piplup had a previous partner, about
three years ago, he was strong and had caught a newly hatched Piplup,
your Piplup. He treated it well for a good 3 weeks then something
happened.”
Liz “What?”
Prof. Rowan “The Piplup started to talk to him. He was shocked ‘cause no one else
could understand it but him. He thought because he owned the Piplup,
he became cursed somehow. He brought the Piplup to me and asked me
to run tests on it.”
Liz “You ran the tests?”
Prof. Rowan “Nothing out of the ordinary came out. I told him it was his imagination
but he just yelled.”
Two years ago….(Flashback of Prof. Rowan)
??? “You think its my imagination!!! Old man! You don’t understand!”
Prof Rowan “Calm down, boy, whether it talks or not it still is a pokemon.
Your pokemon.”
??? “Who the heck wants a cursed pokemon like that stupid Piplup!! I want
to be strong, not cursed!!!”
Prof Rowan “Boy!”
??? “I am not going to take this! Keep it, that stupid Piplup. I don’t want
it.”
Prof Rowan “Wait!”
(End of flashback)
Prof Rowan “And he stormed off.”
Liz “How cruel!”
Prof Rowan “Unfortunately, Piplup heard everything. He was upset for a long time.
He refused to train and the worse thing was that the boy told the whole
neighbourhood about the cursed Piplup. No trainer picked Piplup for
three years. Not even your cousin, Arthur.”
Liz “…….”
Prof Rowan “Not until you arrived, Elizabeth
you would raise this Piplup well. I knew cause when you said you
would pick Piplup, I heard Piplup say that he was so happy.”
Liz “Wait! You can hear Piplup speak too?”
Prof Rowan “Could. I started to hear it only this year. But now all I hear is what a
normal piplup says. I think if Piplup is close to a person and trust that
person, that person can hear it talk. I mean speak its language.”
Liz “I am relieved to hear that. I just thought I was loosing it. Okay~ thank you for the
Info’ professor. I won’t ever abandon Piplup, I give you my word.”
Prof Rowan “I know. Keep up the training and take care.”
Liz “Ok~ Bye professor.”
*beep beep*
Piplup “*cries*”
Liz “Ah! Why are you crying?”
Piplup “Cause you like *sniff* me.”
Liz “Of course I like you, you are a great pokemon and a great friend.”
Piplup “*stops crying* Really, Lizzie is so much better than the young master.”

‘cause you have me now. Lizzie is the only thing you need to call me.”

(Walks back to the plant, grabs a white flower and comes back.)
Piplup “Here you go.”
Liz “Thanks. *turns to the others* See?”
Azelia “Well, I’ll be, you just had a conversation with it.”
Tina “Amazing.”
Vyera “……..weird…..”
Liz “I have always been weird, nothing new here. I will give you more proof later.”

Tina “Hey it’s a beautiful day outside, how about we-”

Piplup can talk? And who knew he had such a bad history, but with all the friend he has made, and with Liz by his side, I think Piplup will be just fine. What do you think?
